An Alfred Stevens (1817- 1875) cast iron fire grate insert, with figural frieze.
In 1850 Alfred Stevens, a sculptor who had studied in Italy under Thorvaldsen , was chief artist to H.E.HOOLE & Co., bronze and metal workers in Sheffield, and his designs helped the firm win an award at the Great Exhibition of 1851...he also designed the railings for the British Museum, and the Wellington memorial in St Pauls. Manufacturer most probably Coalbrookdale.
