A fine early Victorian bird's eye maple occasional table, with reeded and stylised tulip carved column with quatreform base, carved feet and castors. Perfect as a lamp or side table. Maker's label reads Charles Hindley & Sons.
English, c.1840.
Notes: Charles Hindley & Sons were established at 31 & 32 Berners Street, London, as carpet and rug manufacturers, later taking over the Oxford Street cabinet-makers Miles & Edwards in 1844. The company was a noted furniture-maker, receiving a Royal Warrant of Appointment and a place at the 1851 Great Exhibition.
